Petrina owns and operates Calder Mental Health Services, an independent private practice in Edmonton offering mental health services, consultations, and education. She offers individual therapy to adults and, beginning in Winter 2023, will be offering virtual groups on the topics of mindfulness, emotion management, grief and loss, and building self-esteem. Petrina is an experienced clinician who worked for 10+ years in a Federal Correctional setting, with women in recovery from trauma, loss, addiction, and mental illness. She has first-hand experience working in partnership with front-line public safety personnel and has a high level of respect for the professionalism that is required to do that difficult work.

Petrina has been described by colleagues and clients as knowledgeable, non-judgmental, dependable, empathetic, and trustworthy. Clients in particular say that she makes them “feel seen.” Petrina bases her treatment approach in a client-centred philosophy. While she brings expertise in mental health and facilitating change to the working partnership, she knows that her clients will always be the experts in their own lives and what will, or won’t, work for them. By working in equal partnership, she is able to support clients’ healing while fostering their independence to maintain mental health, long-term.

When not seeing clients, you’ll find Petrina walking in the river-valley with her husband, reading her Book Club’s latest pick, watching an IMAX documentary at the Science Centre, or planning the next sci-fi adventure for her gaming group.
